I've decided to write my Independent Research Project(IRP)/thesis on the advertising and policies around the HPV vaccine. Tonight I've been looking at some advertising and it's frustrating. Not one mention of what the hell HPV is. In the American "One Less" campaigns there's no mention of sex at all.
Do you know if they're legally allowed to mention sex in the commercial? Like, I've heard that in commercials for certain medical products they're allowed to mention the product or the problem it fixes, but not both, or something along those lines. It seems insane, I know, but there's some legal reasoning behind it. I'd be curious to know how much/what they can say in commercials like the one above, could be a much larger issue than just bad advertising.
